Dynamics 365 Business Central - Receive Stock into the Warehouse

In this video, we will show you how to create a warehouse receipt and receive stock into the warehouse.

This video assumes you have a fully managed warehouse, where ‘directed put-away and pick’ is ticked on the location card. As a pre-requisite for this video, you must have some inbound documents, whether that is a transfer order, purchase order or a sales return order. In our example we will be using a purchase order.

 

 

Discover how to create a warehouse receipt directly from an inbound document in Dynamics 365 Business Central

A warehouse receipt can be created in one of two ways: directly from an inbound document or create a warehouse receipt and select the documents to include.

To create a warehouse receipt directly from the inbound document, use the search bar to navigate to your list of purchase orders. Open the relevant purchase order and go to the ‘Actions’ tab, then select Warehouse and the ‘Create Warehouse Receipt’ button. A pop-up will appear confirming that the warehouse receipt has been created. When you click ‘OK’, the warehouse receipt document will open automatically.

Ensure that the ‘Quantity to Receive’ reflects the quantity you have physically received, as it is the value in ‘Quantity to Receive’ that will be used to update the system. You can print the receipt using the Print/Send action and to record the receipt on the system, choose one of the three ‘Post’ options.

Depending on your Location setup, a put-away document will be created. If the document is completely received, then the document will be removed. If not fully received, the Lines fast tab will be updated for the outstanding amounts and the document will remain open.

The other way of creating the receipt is by firstly creating an empty warehouse receipt and then selecting the documents to add. Firstly, we will navigate to the ‘Warehouse Receipts’ list and create a new one. Fill in the location code, then select Process and ‘Get Source Documents’ from the ribbon. Then select the relevant source documents. Complete the quantity to receive and post the receipt as previously described.
